B&W Photography

So I spent all this money and time taking this photography class so I figured I might as well share the photos for all to see. Please don't critique too hard because I'm a beginner and my ability to wind a piece of film onto a reel in the dark is only slowly improving.

This is at the Civil War cemetary in Murfreesboro. I can't really say much more than that.

I really don't know what possessed me to take a photo of a giant gnarly root intertwined in the chain link fence, but my teacher liked it.

This is a shot from the Murfreesboro Greenway. Just two minutes earlier I saw two deer walking through the river. I got so excited when I was trying to point them out to Jimmy that I scared them away.

This is a waterfall at Old Stone Fort State Park in Manchester, TN. I showed this to Steve C., one of the Sidelines photographers, and he shrugged it off and explained that all newby photographers take photos of waterfalls. Why don't you just spit on the photo, then?

This is an adorable little boy who was throwing Honey Nut Cheerios at the ducks at Centinnel Park in Nashville. I snuck up beside him to take the shot and right before I snapped the picture, my cell phone rang and he looked at me. I think I like it better with him looking at me like that.

Phil and Jimmy enjoy playing dress up and definitely enjoy a fine Miller High Life every once in a while.

This shot was taken by leaving the shutter open a bit longer than usual (1/6 of a second) while Phil breaks the balls. It's a little unstable cause I should have used a tripod, but carrying around a tripod makes me feel like a geek.

This was a statue on top of a gravestone at the Murfreesboro cemetary. I don't make it a habit to hang out in cemetaries, but I needed something to photograph. Jimmy, my heroic boyfriend, kept the zombies at bay while I photographed.

For my documentary assignment I took photos of the street musicians that frequent Second Ave. in Nashville. I thought this would be a great idea and the photos turned out OK, but I soon realized that the musicians would be expecting money in exchange for me taking their photo. I didn't (but should have) forsee that, and didn't have any money to give them. This particular fellow was quite nasty about me walking away without depositing anything in his can. I had to avoid him the rest of the night.

Elliot is one of the best footbag players in the Middle Tennessee region. He travels to tournaments around the Southeast to compete with other players. He also likes watching Elimadate in his spare time and listens to Pasty Cline. Sorry, ladies, he's taken!

More street musicians in Nashville. I love the woman's boots and her hair-sprayed Farrah Fawcett wings. The man with the cap on saw me coming with my camera and got all excited about the musicians, clapping his hands and singing along. This just proves to me that most people liked to be photographed.
