Its Vacation Slide Time!
Like the middle class parents of yester year, I will force those people who dare to be called my friends to sit through vacation photos.
This is a bridge over the Savannah River, which crosses into S. Carolina, I believe. I may have that wrong. Savannah, like many coastal cities has a thriving boardwalk area for tourists.
This was on a haunted ghost tour of the city, which has been labeled as the most haunted cities in America. The man was attempting to put us all under a spell so that he could bury us alive, or something like that, when our guide/trolly driver came in to rescue us. Notice in the background several people with huge paper fans. It was muggy and hot even at 10 p.m.
These are two photos of the abundant Spanish moss that grows in Savannah. Very gorgeous until you realize that its slowly killing the trees. I learned on my trip that Spanish moss is actually member of the pineapple family.
This is now infamous Johnny Mercer house, where Savannah antiques dealer Jim Williams killed his lover Danny Hansford, the plot for the book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The house was just recently opened for tours because Jim Williams' sister needs the money.
Clary's is a nice little hometown restaraunt that was featured in the Clint Eastwood film of the same title and now enjoys a steady stream of tourists.
This is a church. People do churchy things here, I suppose.
First day of the vacation and we head right for the beach. I don't intend to get wet today because we have to go to the rehearsal dinner later, but Dad is attempting to pull me in. One of the those memorable candid shots that people treasure for a lifetime, right?
Tybee Island, where we stayed, is a typically beach resort town and as such it has typically expensive trinket stores where I could purchase a number of useless items, such as:
little jars with sand that say Tybee Island
overpriced flip-flops
actual dead baby sharks
For those of you who have never met my family, feast your eyes on this group of Halls. Jeremy, Linda and Alan.
And a shot to leave you with. My dad and I.
